Week 2 : Cataloging

Week 1 : Introduction

Pay a visit to FP resource centre and PSZ (UTM main library) or any other library/resource centre

Find out:

1.       How do you locate materials in the library?
Step1 : Looking for the materials that we need by refer to the searching system INFOLAN in PSZ.
Step 2 : The system will show the availability of the materials and its call number.
Step 3 : The call number will show the location of the materials in PSZ.

2.       How do you know that certain materials that you are looking for are available in the library?
The INFOLAN system in the PSZ will show the availability of the materials.

3.       What is the information is given about the library materials?
Title, item type, key word, subject, division, author, source, SNN, DOI, accession number, data base,Publishers, publication date.

4.       Are there any tools/schemes used for such information/ date in #2 can be generated?
We able to access the INFOLAN in PSZ through the intranet in the UTM campus.

5.       How the materials arranged on the selves?
The materials arranged on the selves according to the call number.

6.       What is/are schemes used for that such arrangement can be mabe?
Library of congress classification (LCC)

7.       Is there different shelves/ area for different types of materials? ( AV, Journals, Large books, special collections)
Yes, different types of materials will located at different location for example large book ( more than 28cm will located at the separate place and give the ‘ f ’ (folio) symbol

TQ Allah S.W.T for give me a chance to enroll in this subject MPT 1173: Educational Resources Management & Information System.


From my observation, I can conclude that the management system of my school library is very well under my beloved friend's responsibility, Puan Hidanah Binti Abdullah. Congratz Puan Hidanah. 



In my opinion, it is easy for you and students to find any book for having a great educational resources management system. I hope to gain knowledge so that educational materials in school are in good condition and manage systematically.

Are they arranged systematically?
